                           Doyon Studio & Gallery

  

         

 A real working studio,

the Doyon Studio and Gallery is a place of energy.

       
       

Watercolor, water media, and a variety of different types of workshops are being taught in the spacious studio in Camarillo.  Techniques, composition and  presentation, as well as color and design, are just a few of the elements that make up these on-going classes.

We paint from real life whenever possible from our own drawings,

photos or our imagination, allowing the materials to guide us. 

 

There are critiques in class as well as assignments that can be done in class or at home.  Each assignment has examples or ideas to help you with the creative process.  You are encouraged to work on your own individual projects.

 

 Plein air painting and field trips are an added plus to these classes.   Photos

 

“Being true to oneself is very important to me.  I encourage you to paint what you want using your own ideas and styles.  Copied work is discouraged.  You are an individual and I want you to paint with your own style.” 

 

Wet on wet, wet on dry, over-lay or glazing, drybrush, the bleed and many more techniques are taught.  Besides the traditional watercolor, we experiment with rice paper, watercolor collage, mono prints, gouache, and watercolor crayons.

 

Mini demos are also given as part of the daily agenda.

Additional Instruction by appointment:

 

Private classes by appointment      $40 per hour

Your first private class is 1½ hours at the hourly rate.  This allows us time to discuss materials & talk about techniques. 

 

Consultation Fee (Critique body of work & Direction of the artist)  $50 per hour, & $25 each additional 1/2 hour

Students may pay each time they come to class or by the month.  You are charged only for the classes that you attend.  Our classes are user-friendly which makes it easy to get started.

 

Join us for the fun.  Learn watercolor, acrylic, several types of printmaking such as mono print, chine colle, dry point etching, collage and mixed media.  While learning to control the media of choice, you'll learn the use of tools and the techniques to enhance your art experiences.

 

While working on ideas and subjects you are interested in, we have a once-a-month assignment which helps to re-enforce your experience.  Demonstrations and critiques are also a part of the Doyon Studio & Gallery.
