Julia Ayers and Gail Ayres Collagraph Workshops
Julia Ayres Julia is the author of 2 books on printmaking: "Monotype, Mediums and Methods for Painterly Printmaking", Watson Guptill 1991, and "Printmaking Techniques" Watson Guptill 1993. She has contributed numerous articles on printmaking methods to "American Artist" and "Watercolor" magazines. Her biography appears in "Who's Who in American Art", "Who's Who in America" and other similar national and international reference journals. She and her daughter, Gail Ayres, teach printmaking workshops nationally. They appeared on the television program "An Artist's World", in 1999.
Gail Ayres After a career in graphic arts, which ranged from illustrating children's stories for educational software to creating an animated cartoon for Intel Corp., Gail moved to the woods in Oklahoma to apprentice with her mother, Julia. She quickly became enthralled with the spontaneous and freeing nature of the printmaking process, and for the past 8 years has loved spreading the word on monotypes coast to coast. She focuses on non-toxic materials, water-based inks, printmaking without a press, and methods and materials suited to home studios and classrooms not equipped with presses and elaborate ventilation systems.
